A stopped second hand is usually a cell problem, not a life story. Fierce Nowhere Watch Desk stocks the silver-oxide and lithium sizes we see most often on Danish midtown counters: SR codes for dress quartz, selected CR coins where the movement expects them. We open the case only when the back type is clear — snap, press, or screw — and we refuse pry jobs that risk scarring a soft case or tearing a gasket beyond use.

Before tools come out, we confirm polarity and thickness against the old cell or the movement marking. A wrong height can leave the back proud or the contact intermittent. After the swap we reseat the back, check that the hands advance, and wipe the crystal so you leave with a clean face rather than fingerprints from the bench.

Water resistance after a counter battery change is not a guarantee. If your watch is rated for swimming or diving, a simple reopen can interrupt the seal. We say that plainly. For sealed dive pieces you may need a pressure-tested service elsewhere; for desk and street watches that never see a pool, a careful swap is usually enough to restore daily timekeeping.

If the cell matches stock, most jobs finish while you wait during Monday–Friday hours. Unusual sizes may need an order day. Bring the watch in daylight if you can — reading faded case-back codes under shop light is easier when we are not racing the evening close. Old cells are set aside for proper disposal; we do not drop spent batteries in the general bin.
